Officers from the campus police department participated in eight hours of defensive tactics/hand-to-hand training on Saturday, followed by an eight hour tactical entry class on Sunday.
Bob Malone attended both classes and was pleased with the instruction.
“This type of training is something that we sorely needed and do not get very often at all. We’re trying to improve our department as far as training is concerned,” said the 30-year law enforcement veteran.
Before the training, Lt. Malone said he had some concerns about the quality of “free” training classes. Midway through the first morning of training, the concerns were gone.
“Our people got a lot of the classes,” Malone said. “Mike and David were just wonderful. We could not have asked for two better instructors. To get this kind of training for free is really amazing. We really appreciate all you have done for us.”

Geary County Deputy and course participant Rick Parsons had nothing but glowing remarks at the end of the day.
“It was an outstanding class,” Parsons wrote in an email to the USMPA. “So much of my yearly training is just to get the state required annual training. (This class) was not only interesting, but highly useful in law enforcement daily
missions.”
