The United States Municipal Police Association as a part of its on-going commitment to the law enforcement profession, continues to sponsor free training courses inDEFENSIVE TACTICS and TACTICAL DEPLOYMENT.
The goal of these seminars is to teach the techniques that can save an officer’s life in a critical situation.

FULL IMPACT DEFENSIVE TACTICS:
The U.S.M.P.A. defensive tactics concept introduces realistic impact training in a physical "train lke you fight: environement.

"Most officers will go through an entire career and never use their firearm. But hand-to-hand encounters are situations officers find themselves in all the time. Every time an officer makes an arrest and uses his or her handcuffs, they are in a potentially violent situation," says U.S.M.P.A. Defensive Tacticts Instructor Mike Willis.

The course involves motor dysfunctional striking points, femoral kicks, angle kicks, weapon retention and ground-fighting. Every move is carefully taught and is practiced by students, ensuring that each officer retains a strong command of the techniques by the end of the seminar.

TACTICAL DEPLOYMENT :
The U.S.M.P.A. tactical deployment seminar serves as an introduction to basic strategies and tactics for hazardous entry personnel. The class consists of both classrom and field instruction. The field portion is intensive and physical. Weapons systems and safety movement involving live fire, dynamic, methodological and night entries along with responses to an active shooter are some of the exercises taught during the two-day training. The course is intended to encompass elements of tactical team training, operations, design, and structure.

"Whether it's a large agaency like the New York Police Department or a small, rural department in Oklahoma, the training seminars are conducted identically. Same instructors, same tactics, and it's always free."

—Mike Willis, USMPA Director of Training
