Domestic violence has become an epidemic affecting individuals (especially women and children) in every community, regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality or educational background. Through its daily interaction with police officers, the USMPA is keenly aware of this crime and its physical and emotional ramifications. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence:
- One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
- 85% of domestic violence victims are women.
- Nearly 7.8 million women have been raped by an intimate partner at some point in their lives.
- 30 to 60 percent of perpetrators of intimate partner violence also abuse children in the household.
- Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults.
In an attempt to help those entities who provide shelter and safe haven for those who are survivors of domestic violence, the USMPA recently donated financial assistance to the following organizations:

Fort Bend Women’s Center – Richmond, Texas
Serving Fort Bend County since 1980, the Fort Bend Women’s Center has helped more than 28,000 survivors and their children work toward building violence-free lives. The center serves all victims of domestic violence and their children. No one is turned away and all services are free.

Dear Neighbor Ministries, The StepStone Program – Wichita, Kansas
StepStone owns and operates nine two and three bedroom homes and five two-bedroom duplex units in Wichita. StepStone provides support services ranging from budget counseling to parenting skills training.
